“Past and Present I know well; each is a friend and sometimes an enemy to me. But it is the quiet, beckoning Future, an absolute stranger, with whom I have fallen madly in love.” ― Richelle E. Goodrich, Slaying Dragons: Quotes, Poetry, & a few Short Stories for Every Day of the Year
I’m going to make this short and sweet because part of my commitment to better care this year comes in the form of sleep, which means I need to soon say hello to my bed and farewell to this post.
I think there’s something to be said about the way we envision our lives in comparison to the way we live them. When I dig deep into thinking about a word for 2021 I instinctively yell “match.” I want my dreams to match my reality. So what does this mean? It means that I’ll continue to keep obnoxious optimism in my corner. I’ll craft vulnerable opportunities to keep me hungry with hope and thirsty for experience. I’ll write more, which means sharing more. All simple things to say but each requires consistency and courage. Here’s to this, you, and matching our visions to our realities.
